Company updates Covid-19: Airbnb Announces Global Party Ban for All Listed Properties by GTP editing team 21 August 2020 written by GTP editing team 21 August 2020 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 8 Photo source: Airbnb Airbnb on Thursday announced a global ban on all parties and events in all of the short-term rentals listed on its platform, in its aim to impose strict rules of social distancing in the fight against the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. According to Airbnb, some have chosen to take bar and club behavior to homes, sometimes rented through its platform. “We think such conduct is incredibly irresponsible – we do not want that type of business, and anyone engaged in or allowing that behavior does not belong on our platform,” the company said. The ban also includes a cap on occupancy at 16, which is relevant to larger homes listed to accommodate 16+ people. The party ban applies to all future bookings on Airbnb and will remain in effect indefinitely until further notice. According to Airbnb, 73 percent of its listings globally already ban parties in their house rules. Other hosts others authorize small parties – such as baby showers or birthday parties – if they’re appropriate for their home and their neighborhood.
