Photo © Facebook – ΟΙ ΟΜΟΡΦΙΕΣ ΤΗΣ ΕΛΛΑΔΑΣ ΜΑΣ Greece’s General Secretariat for Civil Protection on Friday announced emergency measures in the areas of Karditsa in western Thessaly, and Pella and Pieria in Central Macedonia, aimed at curbing the further spread of coronavirus (Covid-19). The measures will run for a period of 10 days as of 6am on Saturday, August 22 until 6am on Tuesday, September 1. The emergency measures for the three destinations include: – the closing of all restaurants and bars from midnight until 7 am. – a 50-person cap for all public and social events and gatherings, with the exception of activities in establishments where special rules already apply such as restaurants, theaters and cinemas. The announced measures are similar to those already in effect in the regions of Crete, Eastern Macedonia and Thrace and Attica; the regional units of Thessaloniki, Larissa and Corfu; and the municipalities of Santorini, Volos, Katerini, Rhodes, Zakynthos and Kos. Greek health authorities on Friday reported 209 new coronavirus cases (11 cases were imported from travelers abroad), raising the total number to 8,138. The death toll in the country has reached 238.
