Celestyal Cruises has been honored with the first prize at the MedCruise Awards 2020 for its solidarity initiatives amid the Covid-19 pandemic and its commitment to further develop the cruise sector in the Eastern Mediterranean.

In its second edition, the MedCruise Awards aims to recognize excellence and innovation within the tourism and cruise industry. The virtual awards ceremony, which was organized by the MedCruise Association, honored companies, organizations and individuals that work tirelessly to ensure a competitive future for the cruise industry.

Celestyal has won the first place in the “Cruise Line with the Greatest Solidarity and Commitment during the Pandemic’’ category, for its overall contribution to local communities and the cruise industry.

“This is truly a great honor as it recognizes Celestyal Cruises’ efforts to support and offer relief to vulnerable groups… While going through one of the most difficult times in modern history, values such as solidarity matter the most,” Celestyal Cruises CEO Chris Theophilides said in an announcement.

Meanwhile, the company has added a new vessel to its fleet – the Celestyal Experience – a move that “during this challenging period, proves the company’s commitment to drive the cruise industry into a competitive future,” the announcement said.

Celestyal Cruises offers cruises to the Greek Islands and the Eastern Mediterranean with a fleet of three vessels, each one cosy enough to provide genuine and highly personalized services. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the company has suspended its operations until the start of the 2021 cruise season in March.
