Available at the shops of archaeological sites and museums around the country, the face masks are of high quality and aesthetics. “The Covid-19 pandemic has brought the protective masks into our daily lives… No one can say with certainty how much longer we will need to wear them. But they don’t need to have a clinical image,” an announcement by the Greek Culture Ministry said. Among the masks’ many designs are the animal-shaped votive offerings of the 8th-7th century BC that are on display at the Archaeological Museum of Olympia; the Phaistos Disc and the Minoan bee pendant that are available at the Heraklion Archaeological Museum; marble Cycladic figurines; and an early Byzantine mosaic floor on display at the Archaeological Museum of Delphi. Sold at 5 euros each, the “face masks and are among the shops’ best-selling items,” the ministry said.
