Destinations news New Olympia Forum Looks to Boost Development of Greece’s Regions by GTP editing team 10 September 2020 written by GTP editing team 10 September 2020 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 8 Ancient Olympia, one of Greece’s most popular archaeological sites, during September 18-20, will host the Olympia Forum I, a new event dedicated to promoting the economy and culture of Greece’s 13 regions. Organized by the Delphi Economic Forum non profit organization and the Patris newspaper, the first edition of the Olympia Forum will be held in a hybrid form to ensure the safety of its participants and staff against the Covid-19 pandemic. The forum will combine online events and live discussions with up to 50 guests. “Our vision is to establish the Olympia Forum I as an annual unique European event that will contribute to the economic, business, technological and cultural development of the country’s 13 regions,” the organizers said. Furthermore, the Olympia Forum I aims to offer insight on the know-how and best practices established in various European regions in the fields of industry, technology, infrastructure, green energy and ecotourism, agriculture and nutritional products. These sectors, combined with the absorption and utilization of available funds, can contribute to the development of Greece. Among the topics to be discussed in this year’s conference are regional governance, the circular economy, the digitization of regions, culture, industry, agriculture and rural development, alternative energy sources. Photo Source: Visit Greece The participants of the Olympia Forum include Interior Minister Panagiotis Theodorikakos, Finance Minister Christos Staikouras, Transport Minister Costas Karamanlis, Culture Minister Lina Mendoni, Tourism Minister Harry Theoharis, the President of the European Committee of the Regions Apostolos Tzitzikostas, the Chief Financial Advisor to the Prime Minister Alexis Patelis, and US Ambassador to Greece Geoffrey Pyatt. The live discussions will take place at the SPAP Conference Center of Ancient Olympia and will be broadcast through the internet with free registration at www.olympiaforum.gr.
