Italian Actress Monica Bellucci

The performances of Italian actress Monica Bellucci, “Maria Callas: Lettres et Mémoire”, scheduled to take place in Athens’ Herodion theater on September 28, 29 and 30, have been postponed, following Greek authorities’ decision to suspend all outdoor theatrical events in Greece.

The measure, to be put into effect as of Thursday, September 24, aims to limit the increasing number of coronavirus infections in the country.

In “Lettres et Mémoire”, Bellucci takes audiences on a journey into the life and career of great opera diva Maria Callas. The theatrical play is based on the book “Maria Callas: Lettres et Mémoire” by Tom Volf, who has collected over 350 letters written by Callas between 1946-1977.

Bellucci’s readings reveal hidden aspects of Callas’ life, from her childhood in New York to the years of the war in Athens, and from the early years of her career to her love affair with Aristotle Onassis.

According to production company LC Lykofos, new dates will be announced for Athens’ performances in the coming days while ticket holders will receive further information via e-mail.
