The Greek Labor Ministry on Thursday announced the extension of the measure of mandatory teleworking for employees of the private sector in the wider Athens area of Attica.

The measure, which aims to decongest public transportation and crowding in the workplace, has been extended until October 31 to curb the further spread of the coronavirus (Covid-19) in areas in Attica.

The ministry has also extended the measure of staggering the hours of arrival and departure to and from workplaces in Attica. The measure sees private sector employees arrive and depart from work in four groups, with half hour intervals and within two hours from their agreed (by contract) arrival and departure time.

The measure, which has also been extended until October 31, aims to avoid crowding in the workplace.

Greek health authorities on Thursday announced 411 new coronavirus infections, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 18,886. Of the new detected cases, 272 were found in the Attica region.

The Covid-19 death toll in the country has reached 393.
