Aiming to showcase the beauty and unique nature of the city of Ioannina, the destination’s municipality is holding a photo contest.

Titled “Man and his environment”, the contest aims to highlight the timeless effect of human activity on the environment, as well as the everyday moments, rich history, cultural heritage and multicultural features of Ioannina.

The Municipality encourages residents and visitors to observe and depict the alternative sides of Ioannina, the life and colors of the city.

“The coronavirus pandemic has imposed strict measures and affected personal contact and travel around the world. The digital tourism promotion of Ioannina, through dialogue and the exchange of information on social media, can clearly be more effective and offer multiple and extensive communication results,” Deputy Mayor for Tourism George Lolis said.

Those interested can send their photos to tourismioannina@gmail.com until November 30.

The three first winners of the contest will receive a new camera and three runner-ups will each receive a hard drive.

The 30 best photos will be printed by the Municipality’s Tourism Promotion Office and be exhibited at the Cultural Center of the Ioannina until February 2021.

Furthermore, a photo of each participant will be uploaded in a special section of the city’s tourism portal at www.travelioannina.com.
