Athens 1890 Boutique Hotel & Spa

The Athens 1890 Boutique Hotel & Spa recently opened its doors to welcome visitors to the Greek capital.

Located at Agia Irini Square in the heart of Athens, the new four-star hotel is housed in a 19th century mansion that has been recently restored and offers 14 spacious rooms, some with an outdoor hot tub; a large open food hall on the ground floor; and a fully equipped spa.

“The atmosphere evokes the Athenian belle epoque and is underlined by elements of discreet luxury and modern comforts,” the hotel’s management said in an announcement.

Built in the 19th century by local silk trader Ioannis Mihalopoulos, the Athenian mansion is divided into six levels including an extensive commercial space on the ground and lower ground floors and the residential area on the upper three levels.

The Athens 1890 Boutique Hotel & Spa has retained the mansion’s elaborate façade, impressive wooden staircase, hand-painted ceilings and unique architectural elements inspired by antiquity.

Its location, close to the Acropolis hill and next to Ermou commercial street, makes the hotel the ideal starting point to explore Athens’ archaeological monuments, street markets and culinary life.

“The combination of high quality services and the satisfaction of the guest demands is Athens 1890 Boutique Hotel & Spa priority,” management said.
