Travelers are still visiting Greece in October with the airports of Rhodes, Kos, Santorini and Mykonos welcoming a total of 130,614 visitors so far this month, said the South Aegean Region, citing data of regional airport manager Fraport Greece. More specifically, a total of 130,614 foreign tourists traveled to Greece on 869 flights in the first 15 days of October, down by 30,000 compared September and taking into account a strike on October 15, the data found. Broken down, in the October 1-15 period, the airports of Rhodes welcomed 74,031 travelers from abroad on 478 flights, followed by Kos (40,271 – 254 flights), Mykonos (4,920 – 46 flights), and Santorini (11,392 – 91 flights). Overall, from July 1 to October 15, the South Aegean Region recorded a total of 1,098,609 arrivals. Earlier this year and before the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, Fraport Greece said it was committed to extending the tourism season by increasing inbound traffic and attracting more airlines to enter the Greek market or to boost flight frequency.
