Regency Entertainment recently revealed the name of its ambitious tourism and entertainment project to be created in the northeastern suburb of Marousi in Athens. “VORIA” (which means “north” in Greek) will be the name of the new project which will go up at the “Dilaveri estate”, a property of some 55,000 square meters owned by the Laskaridis family (Hotel Grande Bretagne, King George, Athens Capital – MGallery etc.). Located at the junction of Kifissias Avenue and Spyrou Loui in the Municipality of Marousi, the new tourism and entertainment complex “VORIA” will house the renowned casino of Mt. Parnitha (Mont Parnes) and include a 5-star hotel, restaurants, venues for cultural and leisure events, and an underground parking area. The investment, which is expected to reach 200 million euros, will be carried out by the Hellenic Casino of Parnitha S.A., a subsidiary of Regency Entertainment S.A., in which the state has a 49 percent stake through the Public Properties Company S.A.. It is noted that the funds for the investment will come entirely from Regency Entertainment. According to Regency Entertainment, “VORIA” will stand out due to its unique architectural design and the environmental upgrade it will bring to the area of Marousi, as over 50 percent of the total grounds will consist of communal green areas and gardens. Moreover, the development of the complex is expected to significantly upgrade the value of real estate in the wider area, with the investment being a new, steady source of revenue for the Municipality of Marousi (contribution of 2 percent on the gross profits of the casino and municipal fees). The new investment is expected to create 1,000 new jobs, while securing the 1,000 jobs of those employed at the casino of Mt. Parnitha (Mont Parnes). According to Hellenic Casino Parnitha Management Consultant Anastasios Homenidis, “VORIA” is sure to place the region of Attica on the world map of tourism and leisure. “This project serves as a call for new investments in Greece. The benefits of this investment are many and significant, but what makes it stand out the most is its design, which focuses on the people and their quality of life, creating more space for walking and more opportunities for sports and activities,” he said. The announcement of “VORIA” follows the recent approval of the investment’s special urban plan and environmental impact study by the Greek Environment and Energy Ministry, which paves the way for the casino on Mt. Parnitha to relocate to Marousi. The next step in the licensing process of “VORIA” is the approval of the special urban plan by the Central Council for Urban Issues and Disputes (KESYPOTHA) and then the issuance of a draft presidential decree for the implementation of the investment.
