Greece Lays Out Qualifications for Tour Leader Professionals

In an effort to regulate the tour leader profession, the Greek Tourism Ministry announced that it was laying out specific terms and conditions under a draft decree.

Among others, the updated law defines tour leader responsibilities, clarifies the scope of required education, introduces licensing  (Certificate of Assistance to Legal Requirements), distinguishes between the duties of tourist guides and tour leaders, and introduces penalties on individuals or travel agencies providing tour leader services without meeting the requirements.

It should be noted that the two professions differ in terms of schedule, responsibility and knowledge of the destinations visited as well as in terms of professional licensing.
