In the Covid-19 era, the municipality is focusing on promoting Tinos through targeted quality content that is available on modern technology apps. “Apart from the health measures undertaken, emphasis has been given on promotional activities and the development of a timely communication program. Furthermore, an application for the promotion of Tinos’ extensive network of trails is already available,” Aloimonou added. As part of its 2020 summer tourism campaign, the municipality has also released 10 thematic videos. In collaboration with marketing specialists MTC Group, the municipality presented Tinos’ tourism offerings and actions that were launched to meet the needs of visitors during the pandemic. Since physical presence was not possible at this year’s WTM trade show, the municipality tried a different approach and screened a video on the island’s special features. Furthermore, Maria Tzanou, the managing director of consulting agency The Story Tailors, took part in the municipality’s online meetings with journalists, bloggers, opinion leaders and travel agents. The municipality’s activities during WTM Virtual focused on the island’s traditional source tourism markets – the UK and France – but also on new markets such as Israel, India, Bulgaria, Poland and Italy.
