Greece and Germany have agreed to strengthen cooperation in the area of tourism with the exchange of knowhow towards the upgrade of special interest options, said Greek Secretary General for Tourism Policy and Development, Vicky Loizou, presenting the conclusions of the 4th round of inter-ministerial consultations on the Greek-German bilateral action plan held recently.

Loizou held talks with German State Secretary for Economic Affairs, Claudia Dorr-Voss, on the sidelines of the event which was organized by the Greek foreign ministry.

The two sides agreed to work closer on such issues as the development of health and spa tourism, and discussed ways to attract investment and to diversify the tourism product.

Their talks, which took place via teleconference, also focused on the formulation of a new tourism model that will enhance existing offerings and contribute to the extension of the tourism season.

In this direction, Loizou referred to the government’s incentive policy aimed at stimulating green development and digital transition.

According to Loizou, Dörr-Voss expressed interest particularly in mountain and spa tourism as well as in plans for the upgrade of marinas.

Loizou went on to add that Dörr-Voss acknowledged Greece’s efforts to facilitate investments and improve competitiveness.

The two parties also discusses Greece’s Covid-19 recovery plans and the need for common health protocols as well as special training for tourism professionals in view of the changing conditions.
