Air Travel Greece’s 11-month Air Passenger Traffic Nosedives by GTP editing team 15 December 2020 written by GTP editing team 15 December 2020 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 19 Global lockdown and quarantine measures ordered to contain the spread of Covid-19 have hit Greece’s incoming air traffic hard driving it downward by 68.7 percent in the 11-month, January-November period, the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority (HCAA) said this week. More specifically, passenger traffic through Greece’s airports dropped by 68.7 percent in the January-November 2020 period to 19.3 million passengers from 61.6 million in the same period in 2019. The number of flights also fell by 45.7 percent in the period under review to 230,668 from 425,091 in 2019. Broken down in the January-November 2020 period, 112,717 domestic and 117,951 international flights were carried out. According to the same data, total (domestic and international) passenger traffic in November dropped by 83 percent. Greek airports handled a total of 442,578 passengers down from 2,596,285 passengers in November 2019. In the same month this year, the number of flights came to 10,094, down by 57.5 percent against the same month in 2019 and 23,774 flights. International arrivals decreased by 89.4 percent to 73,117 down from 687,711 in 2019.
