TUI Group on Monday announced that George Dimas is resigning as the company’s head of TUI Musement in Greece and a member of the Board of Directors of TUI Hellas to pursue other opportunities.

Dimas will leave his position at the end of December and will be succeeded by Ian Hay, TUI’s former head of Cyprus, Malta, Egypt and the Middle East.

An executive of TUI since 1991, Dimas held management positions in many sectors at TUI Hellas. In recent years he served as the head of TUI in Greece, successfully managing the activities of the tourism company in the country.

“I am proud of the development of TUI in Greece in recent years. I saw the company become the largest tourism group in the world and the leader of the tourist market in Greece. All this would not have been possible without my remarkable colleagues and the trust of our great partners all these years. Together we managed to place Greece among TUI Group’s top destinations,” Dimas said in a statement.

“After 29 years, this chapter of my professional life is complete, while I continue to have an excellent relationship with TUI,” he added.

On his part, TUI Group CEO Fritz Joussen referred to Dimas as a strong ambassador of Greek tourism at TUI who contributed effectively and successfully to the company’s activities in Greece.

“I am sorry he has decided to leave, but I thank him very much for his contribution to our company for three whole decades. I wish him the best for his future,” TUI’s CEO said.

Following Dimas’ departure from the company, Ian Hay will take over as the head of TUI in Greece. Hay has been an executive of TUI for more than 22 years in various European countries. Until recently he was head of TUI Cyprus, Malta and Egypt. As part of TUI Group’s new structure, Hay will be responsible for the destinations of Greece, Cyprus, Malta and Egypt based in Athens.
