European Union officials have approved a technical assistance program that will help upgrade tourism education and research in Greece, following a request submitted by the Greek Tourism Ministry.

According to an announcement by the ministry, the program is a complementary contribution to Greece’s new bill for tourism education and research that has been submitted to government officials by Greek Deputy Tourism Minister Manos Konsolas.

“The technical assistance program aims to integrate best international practices in tourism education and research and at the same time it demonstrates the strong interest of the European Union in these important areas for the tourism industry in our country,” Deputy Minister Konsolas said.

The program will run under a budget of 420,000 euros and begin in early 2021, the ministry said.
