Safety and product rating website AirlineRatings.com has revealed a list of the World’s Top 20 Airlines for Covid-19 compliance.

According to AirlineRatings.com Editor-in-Chief Geoffrey Thomas the list includes airlines that have gone above and beyond in the protection of passengers or in adding flexibility to travel.

In alphabetical order, they are Air Baltic, Air New ZealandAlaska AirlinesAll Nippon Airways, AirAsia, British AirwaysCathay Pacific Airways, Delta Air LinesEmirates, Etihad AirwaysEVA Air, Japan Airlines, Jetblue, KLM, Korean Air, LufthansaSingapore Airlines, SouthwestQatar Airways and Westjet.

“All these airlines have been trendsetters in making travel as safe as possible,” Thomas said.

The website surveys 430 airlines for Covid-19 compliance.

“A total of 119 airlines have achieved the highest Covid-19 rating of seven stars but it is disappointing to see that 117 get a zero for compliance, or have no information for the public on their Covid policies on their website,” Thomas added.

For full compliance airlines must have seven criteria in place: website information on COVID19 procedures; face masks for passengers; personal protection equipment for the crew; modified meal service; deep clean of aircraft, personal sanitizer kit, and social distancing onboarding.

AirlineRatings.com has also released its annual list of the World’s Top 20 Safest Airlines for 2021 from the 385 different carriers it monitors.

Qantas has been announced the world’s safest airline for 2021.

The Top 20 are the who’s who of airlines and, in order, are:

Qantas, Qatar Airways, Air New Zealand, Singapore Airlines, Emirates, EVA Air, Etihad Airways, Alaska Airlines, Cathay Pacific Airways, British Airways, Virgin Australia/Virgin Atlantic, Hawaiian Airlines, Southwest Airlines, Delta Air Lines, American Airlines, SAS, Finnair, Lufthansa, KLM, and United Airlines.

These airlines are standouts in the industry and at the forefront of safety, innovation, and launching of new aircraft. According to Geoffrey Thomas, the editors analyze crashes, serious incidents, audits from aviation’s governing bodies and lead associations; government audits, and fleet age in making their determinations.

AirlineRatings was launched in June 2013 and rates the safety, in-flight product, and Covid-19 compliance of 385 airlines using its unique seven-star rating system.
