UPDATE: The NOTAM for domestic flights in Greece has been extended until 6am on January 18.

The Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority (HCAA) on Thursday issued a new aviation directive (NOTAM) that extends travel restrictions for domestic flights (travel between prefectures) until 6am, on Monday, January 11.

The NOTAM concerns domestic scheduled, commercial and general/business flights and foresees that only essential travel is allowed for health reasons, business reasons, family reunification, and returning to permanent residence.

The aviation directive was issued as part of the Greek government’s efforts to limit the spread of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic in the country.

Greek authorities last week decided to tighten Covid-19 preventive measures across Greece, for the week of January 3-10, for precautionary reasons.
