Awards TripAdvisor: Crete Among World’s Most Popular Destinations for 2021 by GTP editing team 28 January 2021 written by GTP editing team 28 January 2021 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 22 The Greek island of Crete is among the world’s most popular destinations for 2021, according to the “Travelers’ Choice – Best of the Best Awards for Destinations” list, that was recently released by travel planning and booking site TripAdvisor. TripAdvisor’s awards highlight the most popular, trending, and emerging destinations around the world, as well as a new category for 2021: national parks. The awarded destinations were on the upswing during the previous year, growing in popularity, gaining positive reviews, and fueling travelers’ wanderlust for future travels. Crete ranks seventh among the most popular destinations in the world and fourth in Europe for 2021 due to its long history and unique archaeological sites. Soak up the charming atmosphere of Chania Town’s Old Venetian Harbor or the fortresses and monasteries of Rethymnon. The awesome Minoan ruins of Malia date to 1900 BC, and majestic Mt. Ida is said to be home to the cave where Zeus was born.” The “2021 Travelers’ Choice – Best of the Best Awards for Destinations” are based on the quality and quantity of reviews and ratings, and reveal where travelers ventured in 2020, while travel was still open, as well as where they dreamed of going while the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic kept them at home. Bali in Indonesia ranks first on TripAdvisor’s World Popular Destinations 2021 list, while London, UK, tops Europe’s list for 2021.
