Flights and city breaks to Athens are now on sale with the company’s leisure airline Jet2.com and city break provider, Jet2CityBreaks, from Birmingham (exclusive route), Manchester and London Stansted Airports, with two weekly services operating from each base from April 2022 until the end of October. According to a company announcement, the introduction of flights and city breaks to Athens comes in direct response from British holidaymakers but also gives Greeks access to London, the city of Manchester and the North West of England, as well as Birmingham and the Midlands region. “We know how popular our award-winning flights and city breaks to Athens in the summer will be, and we look forward to a very successful programme,” Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said. Jet2 is a flight-only option with Jet2.com for travel to Athens in summer 2022 or a package option with Jet2CityBreaks (includes flights with Jet2.com). On her part, Ioanna Papadopoulou, Athens International Airport’s Communications & Marketing Director, said Jet2.com’s vote of trust to the Athens market and decision to offer its leisure product to the Greek market will enhance the choices of travellers. “We are firmly committed to stand by our new airline partner, work closely together for the strengthening and enhancement of the tourism flows and substantially contribute to its successful operations to and from Athens,” Papadopoulou said. On her part, Emy Anagnostopoulou, Director at the Greek National Tourism Organisation’s UK & Ireland Office, applauded Jet2.com’s decision to introduce Athens as a new route from Birmingham, Manchester and London Stansted for Summer 22. “We would like to thank everyone at Jet2.com for believing in Greece as an inspirational destination and for their continuous support… Athens is the perfect dreamy destination for holidaymakers, and it will satisfy all their travel preferences and expectations,” she said.
