Attica Group: 3 State-of-the-art Catamaran Vessels to Serve Saronic Islands

The Attica Group, a leading coastal shipping company in Greece, has signed an agreement with the Brødrene Aa shipyard of Norway, for the construction of three state-of-the-art Aero Catamaran vessels that will replace three of the group’s older technology vessels that serve the Saronic islands.

Budgeted at 21 million euros, the investment will be covered by own funds and bank financing. The construction of the new vessels will begin immediately after the signing of a loan agreement. Their delivery is expected to take place within the first four months of 2022.

Boasting an ultra-modern design and innovative features, the new vessels are expected to significantly upgrade the travel experience for over 3 million passengers that travel annually on the Attica Group’s Saronic lines.

“The introduction of the new AEROs will increase the transport capacity of the market, reduce the overall travel time, and contribute to the further economic development of the Saronic islands and their local communities,” Attica Group said in an announcement.

Each vessel will have a maximum speed of 34 knots, a total length of 36 meters, a width of 9.7 meters and the ability to carry 150 passengers. The innovative interior layout will guarantee a high level of comfort and upgraded services for the passengers.

The vessels will also offer:

– a comfortable trip even in rough seas
– spacious passenger accommodation areas with large windows providing ample seaside view
– digital facilities for constant communication during the trip
– overhead luggage bins, as well as specially designated luggage areas
– special facilities for passengers with reduced mobility
– areas for bicycle transportation
– air-conditioned kennels for pets.

In addition, the vessels’ light construction with carbon fiber will contribute to the reduction of fuel consumption and air emissions, while solar panels will generate the energy required for lighting and energy consumption in the accommodation areas.
