Ways of safely restarting tourism this summer were discussed between Tourism Minister Harry Theoharis and Mykonos Mayor Konstantinos Koukas, during a recent meeting in Athens. A renowned tourism destination, Mykonos every year attracts thousands of travelers from all over the world. During the meeting, both sides agreed that the vaccination of tourism professionals and setting the requirement of Covid-19 testing for free movement around Greece would contribute to the safe start of the new tourism season. Mayor Koukas informed the minister that during the next two months the municipality would carry out rapid Covid-19 tests to its residents. Furthermore, the mayor informed that the municipality could allocate funds to cover additional costs that may occur should the local authority decides to extend its vaccination program. It is reminded that Greece is carrying out a large-scale vaccination program on the mainland as well as on the islands including those of the Cyclades group.
