Based in Brussels, EBD aims to promote culture and tourism in Europe. Ahead of Valentine’s Day, celebrated worldwide on February 14, the organization published a list of special European destinations, that are considered ideal for “original and authentic romantic getaways, and tailor-made trips”. Oia, Santorini Oia, Santorini island According to EBD, Oia’s colorful houses and steep alleys make it one of the most romantic destinations for Valentine’s Day in Europe. “Its houses carved into the rock will form a perfect cocoon to welcome your beloved. In the evening you can enjoy a catamaran cruise to watch the sunset, sip champagne and say ‘I love you’,” the organization says. Oia Castle is also a great place to watch romantic and unforgettable sunsets. Preveli beach, Crete River Kourtaliotis and Preveli Beach, Crete. You can choose whether to swim in fresh water or in the warmer sea water,” the organization says. EBD’s list of Europe’s Most Romantic Destinations for Valentine’s Day also includes Porto Santo on the Madeira Islands, Portugal; Opatija, Croatia; the heart-shaped route of the Spicnik – Stjerska region in Slovenia; Strasbourg, France; Burano, Italy; Dinard, France; Galesnjak Island, Croatia; Mijas, Spain; Polperro, England; Varenna, Italy; Praia da Marinha, Portugal; Sveti Stefan, Montenegro; Gdansk and Sopot, Poland; Lagh de Calvaresc Lake, Switzerland, and Rothenburg-Ob-der-Tauber, Germany.
