Air Travel Austrian Airlines to Boost Frequency to Greek Destinations in Summer 2021 by GTP editing team 17 February 2021 written by GTP editing team 17 February 2021 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 13 Austrian Airlines on Wednesday announced that a number of Greek destinations will be on its schedule with increased frequency for the summer of 2021. “We are expecting increased demand in the tourism sector in summer and are therefore increasing our offer to vacation destinations by up to 20 percent from July,” said Austrian Airlines CCO Michael Trestl. According to the company’s announcement, the airline’s main focus will continue to be on Greece and Cyprus, but Italy, Spain, and Turkey will also be on its schedule for the summer of 2021. Regarding Greece, Austria’s flag carrier has announced up to 10 flights a week to Heraklion, Crete, and will also increase frequency to the islands of Rhodes, Mykonos and Kos. Also, the airline plans to offer in midsummer up to 16 flights to Larnaca, Cyprus, while other destinations such as Palma de Mallorca, Ibiza, Catania and the Canary Islands are also included on its schedule with increased frequency. In total, the airline expects to fly up to 150 flights per week to vacation destinations in summer. The airline’s CEO added that although the booking phase for the 2021 vacation season is currently underway, further development is highly dependent on the progress of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic and the associated travel policies. Resumption of more than 20 destinations Austrian Airlines has also announced that more than 20 destinations will be resumed for the summer flight program, including: Barcelona, Dubrovnik, Florence, Gothenburg, Kosice, Krakow, Lviv, Odessa or Oslo. In the intercontinental route network, Amman, Bangkok, Chicago and Tokyo are back on the airline’s flight schedule. The airline will also be flying from Vienna to Hanover again as of March 25. The route initially will be in the schedule twice a week, and the frequency will increase by the summer.
