Covid-19 Impact on tourism economy ECDC Map Places Greece on Higher Covid-19 Risk Level by GTP editing team 19 February 2021 written by GTP editing team 19 February 2021 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 8 One day after Covid-19 cases spiked in Greece, all of its regions are either labelled high or medium risk on the weekly European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) map. Updated every Thursday, the map charts the spread of the deadly virus across Europe. This week Attica, Central Greece, Evia island, and Achaia in the Peloponnese are in the red “high risk” category, which reports 150 or more positive Covid-19 cases per 100,000 people. The current map is based on a combined index of tests, new cases, and positivity rate for the February 11-18 period. The rest of Greece is mostly in the orange medium risk category. Epirus and Thrace are also orange on the ECDC map, indicating a decline in Covid-19 cases over the last 14-day period. According to the National Public Health Organization (EODY), Greece recorded 1,400 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours and 27 new deaths. Iceland is the only country in Europe classified as risk-free “green”. It should be noted, however, that Greece is still listed “low risk” (green) in terms of positivity rate (map below) compared to the rest of Europe which is orange.
