Covid-19 Impact on tourism economy Mediterranean Yacht Show Will Not Take Place in 2021 by GTP editing team 23 February 2021 written by GTP editing team 23 February 2021 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 7 After carefully assessing the latest developments related to the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic and the international travel restrictions, the Greek Yachting Association (GYA) has decided to cancel the Mediterranean Yacht Show (MEDYS) 2021 event. After cancelling the 2020 event, MEDYS 2021 was scheduled to take place during April 22-25 at the port of of Nafplion in the Peloponnese, in collaboration with the Municipality of Nafplion. “Despite the significant interest of the international yachting community for the annual MEDYS event, we’ve considered this decision as necessary for the protection of all persons involved. The health and safety of charter brokers and managers, crews, exhibitors, visitors, press representatives and participants is our utmost priority,” GYA said in an announcement. “It wasn’t an easy decision since, every year, MEDYS promotes the unique yachting experience of Greece and Eastern Mediterranean” the association added. GYA also reminded that its Virtual Charter Yacht Show is available online, featuring some of the most impressive yachts sailing Greek seas through a virtual tour. According to the association, despite these difficult circumstances, yachting remains an excellent holiday option which will continue its upward trend as the world adapts to the new conditions. “Renting a superyacht is one of the safest ways for leisure travel, as it offers the chance to relax in a completely controlled and protected environment, where all hygiene and cleanliness regulations are strictly observed, while limiting exposure to public areas,” GYA concluded.
