Held between February 18-22, the TTR Virtual Expo 2021 hosted a total of 127 exhibitors – destinations, travel agencies, tour operators and tourism service providers – from all over the world, as well as 33,000 virtual visitors. Greece took part in the expo with a virtual stand of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) that hosted a total of 25 co-exhibitors including regional authorities, local tourism bodies, municipalities and tourism startups. “The Greek stand attracted over one third of the expo’s 33,000 virtual visitors, placing Greece among the three most popular tourism destinations of the event,” the GNTO said in an announcement. Through its stand, the GNTO promoted a total of 20 Greek destinations that are included in the networks of airlines, the programs of charter flights of tour operators, or are accessible by car from Romania. The GNTO also promoted thematic experiences that respond to the special interests of Romanian travelers. In addition, the GNTO hosted Capsule T, Greece’s first travel and hospitality accelerator created by the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels to accelerate the launch of technology startups active in tourism. During the expo, Capsule T presented five of the program’s innovative tourism startups.
