Crete Launches Greece’s First Site for Digital Nomads

The Region of Crete has launched the first website in Greece for digital nomads, aiming to attract remote workers and support the country’s tourism recovery.

Available at www.workfromcrete.gr, the website aims to promote Crete and its comparative advantages through a number of targeted actions.

In an announcement, the Region of Crete said it was responding to the new global trend and leading the research for digital nomads – the people that seek and ultimately choose to work remotely, from another country.

“Crete’s authentic landscape, long clean coast and hospitality can offer unique lifetime experiences to people who wish to live and work on the island,” the Region said.

The initiative is the basis of a comprehensive plan developed by the Region, in collaboration with other bodies, to promote Crete as the “ideal place for remote workers” throughout the year.

The new website offers essential information and knowhow to new professionals, and is interconnected with other bodies abroad as a member of a global community.

The Region of Crete will soon inform other organizations abroad about the new website, including the offices of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) that are located abroad, Greek embassies and private organizations.

The website is being regularly updated with additional information from its users.

“We are opening a new window to the world. We offer necessary information to people that wish to work in a beautiful and authentic place. Through www.workfromcrete.gr, digital nomads will get in touch with Crete, receive information on its institutions, innovation and employment opportunities,” Crete Governor Stavros Arnaoutakis said.

According to the governor, Crete offers prestigious educational and research institutes, digital infrastructure, a hospitable atmosphere and authentic experiences.

“This is the basis for our open call to millions of citizens abroad that wish to work from Crete,” he added.
