Greece on Germany’s Covid-19 ‘Risk Areas’ List

Germany’s Federal Foreign Office has updated its travel advice and included all regions of Greece on its list of “risk areas”, following an increase of coronavirus (Covid-19) incidents in the country.

“Risk areas” are regions and countries of particularly increased risk of infection.

As of March 7, travelers who have visited a “risk area” during the ten days prior to their entry into Germany must have a negative Covid-19 test with them and present it to the competent authorities upon request.

The test must have been performed no more than 48 hours prior to entry (time of swabbing). Proof of the test result must be on paper or in an electronic document in English, French or German.

Following entry, travelers are required to proceed directly to their destination and self-isolate there for ten days.

After five days of quarantine at the earliest, travelers can again be tested for Covid-19 in order to end the self-isolation obligation (if they have a negative test result). In addition, travelers must log on to https://www.einreiseanmeldung.de and register before arriving in Germany.

Germany had previously included four Greek regions to its “high risk” list, namely Attica, Western Greece, Central Greece and Central Macedonia.

Classification as a “risk area” is the result of a joint analysis and decision-making process by the Federal Ministries of Health and Interior, and the Federal Foreign Office, and refers to countries/regions that present 50 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days.
