The European Best Destinations (EBD) organization has included five popular Greek destinations among the world’s best for Covid-19 vaccinated travelers.

As the European Commission is working to establish an EU-wide digital “green pass” for travel, the idea of a Covid-19 certificate is already being promoted by authorities in Greece, Madeira, The Azores, Spain, Sweden, Iceland and Georgia, EBD said.

Holders of a vaccine certificate while traveling will be able to cross borders without being forced to provide a negative test and without any quarantine restrictions.

Greece recently announced plans to open to tourism by May 14 under a complete protocol with entry requirements that include either proof of vaccination or a Covid-19 negative test.

EBD therefore has included the following tourist hotspots in Greece on its list of Covid-19 Best Destinations for Vaccinated Travelers:

Rethymno

The city of Rethymno on the island of Crete, ranks fourth on EBD’s list for its sublime lighthouse, the Venetian harbour crowded with fishing boats, its fortress, hiking trails and sublime beaches.

“These are good reasons [for travelers] to stay in Rethymno this summer,” EBD said.

The island of Kefallonia is fifth on the list. Voted as one of the top 2021 destinations, Kefallonia is considered to be among Greece’s most beautiful islands.

“With restaurants and cafes, a wide range of private accommodation and kilometric beaches allowing sanitary distances to be respected, Kefallonia is a perfect destination for a holiday under the sun this year,” EBD said.

EBD has placed Athens is the ninth position as it considers the city the perfect choice for a safe trip to Europe.

“For a city break, shopping or culture, as a couple or with friends, Athens is a destination that combines safety and leisure. The city has it all: shops, monuments, restaurants, cafes and the beach nearby,” the organization said.

Rhodes

Rhodes ranks 11th on the list. It is considered ideal for its sublime medieval city – one of the best preserved in Europe.

EBD is urging travelers to visit the Ancient Acropolis of Lindos, the historic Rhodes Old Town, the Palace of the Grand Master and the Agios Pavlos beach.

Kos
