Greek Shipping Minister Yiannis Plakiotakis recently said that specific guidelines and health protocols for safe travel with ferries this summer will be announced in the coming weeks.

The set of safety standards to apply for passengers and crews has been drawn up in collaboration with the National Public Health Organization (EODY), the Health Ministry, and the Covid-19 committee of experts, and is based on experience gained last year, in addition to vaccination campaigns.

The minister also referred to a health status questionnaire which was required before boarding last year and which will also be available in digital format this year.

Plakiotakis said port authorities will be responsible for ensuring adherence to the rules on board and at ports.

According to the minister, the health protocols for ferry travel are expected to be finalized and announced by mid-April.
