Organized in collaboration with social media community Greek Instagramers Events, the photo contest is part of the city’s ongoing tourism campaign running by the “Destination Piraeus” organization. The aim is to promote the beauty and distinctive features of Piraeus. “We use the power of photography and social media to further promote our city, its unique features and beauty that make it special,” Piraeus Mayor Yiannis Moralis said. “Piraeus has the potential to develop [as a tourism destination]. We continuously work according to our plan and I am optimistic that we will see the results of this effort in the years to come,” he added. The contest will select 100 photos to be presented in a group exhibition titled #My_Piraeus in the fall or later, depending on the circumstances of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. Furthermore, Destination Piraeus will include the photos in its activities for the tourism promotion of Piraeus. Those interested can submit their applications until June 30, 2021. Participation is free of charge. For more information on the terms and conditions (in Greek) press here.
