The Thessaloniki Convention Bureau (TCB) during May 11-12 will hold the “CΟΝΝΕCT Tourism & Travel Event Thessaloniki” exclusively for tourism and travel professionals of the local and international market.

According to an announcement by the TCB, Thessaloniki is a popular city break and MICE destination, while Central Macedonia offers many options for alternative tourism. The TCB initiative aims to dynamically promote the destination, enhance entrepreneurship and promote the tourism businesses of Thessaloniki and the wider Central Macedonia region through two events:

– the “Thessaloniki, city break & MICE destination” event on May 11, and
– the “Alternative tourism in Central Macedonia” event on May 12.

The events will take place on a special online platform which will allow participants to present the destination and international hosted buyers to conduct B2B meetings with suppliers from Thessaloniki and the wider region.

Furthermore, the platform will offer a digital tour to the area’s points of attraction through a live broadcast.

According to TCB President Yiannis Aslanis, the aim of the Bureau is to support, not only its members but also businesses of the wider area and create a common meeting point for suppliers and hosted buyers.

“Both events will exclusively focus on the promotion of the two destinations: Thessaloniki and Central Macedonia. We wish to comprehend the new needs that have emerged from the [coronavirus] pandemic and prepare to welcome businesses and leisure travelers to our region,” he said.

The CΟΝΝΕCT Tourism & Travel Event Thessaloniki will take place with the support of the Central Macedonia Region under the auspices of the Interior Ministry (Macedonia-Thrace), the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) and the Municipality of Thessaloniki.
