Delta Air Lines has announced the restart of its direct flights between the US and Greece.

The first flight departed New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport on Friday, May 28, and is expected to land at Athens International Airport on Saturday morning.

According to a company announcement,  Delta is the first airline to restart flights between the U.S. and Greece since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic.

This summer, the airline will fly from its two largest U.S. hubs, when Atlanta service joins New York-JFK in July.

Customers from 46 U.S. cities can conveniently connect onto the Athens service at Delta’s JFK hub, which makes it easier for travelers to reconnect with family, friends and new experiences.

The new service from Atlanta is expected to begin on July 2.

Passengers traveling to Greece from the U.S. will no longer be subject to quarantine requirements if they hold a vaccination certificate or negative PCR test issued up to 72 hours before arrival.

Travelers returning to the U.S. will still require a negative COVID-19 test and can find a nearby location with Delta’s dedicated Travel Planning Center for international travel.
