Speaking during Friday’s Covid-19 media briefing, Vana Papaevaggelou, infectious diseases specialist, announced that the coronavirus health committee has recommended for another five vaccines to be accepted by the Greek government for entry into the country. “In collaboration with the National Vaccination Committee, we have recommended for more vaccines to be accepted for entry into the country, in addition to those already approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA),” she said. The vaccines that have been given the green light by the committee are Novavax, Sinovac/BioTech, Sputnik, Sinopharm and Cansino Biologics. The vaccines already acceptable for entrance to Greece are the EMA-approved Pfizer BioNtech, Moderna, Astra Zeneca/Oxford and Johnson + Johnson/Janssen. It is reminded that entrance to Greece from abroad is permitted to travelers that have submitted the Passenger Locator Form (PLF) one day before travel and have one of the following: a vaccination certificate, a negative PCR test, a recovery certificate or a Digital COVID Certificate. Papaevaggelou added that now with the opening of the tourism season, authorities will show special attention to monitoring popular tourism destinations. “Data per municipality will be examined in detail,” she said. Referring to Greece’s tourism workers, she reminded that they undergo mandatory Covid-19 self-testing once a week and are also being advised to get vaccinated immediately.
