Event News Medical Tourism: Greece to Host ‘In-MedTouR’ Final Conference in Patra by GTP editing team 23 June 2021 written by GTP editing team 23 June 2021 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 18 The Greek Tourism Ministry is organizing the final conference of the InMedTour – “Innovative Medical Tourism Strategy” project that is scheduled to take place in the city of Patra during June 24-25. Greece is an active member of the InMedTour project which is part of the EU Interreg V-A Greece – Italy 2014-2020 program. During the final conference, the project’s partners will present its main conclusions that involve common actions and partnerships between Greek and Italian organizations active in medical tourism. In addition, state officials from both countries will present the opportunities and challenges of medical tourism as well as initiatives for the sector’s development. The conference will also focus on the innovations and initiatives adopted by the hospitality sector amid the coronavirus pandemic. Furthermore, representatives of the medical sector will present pioneering modern treatments offered in Greece. The conference’s speakers include Greek Tourism Policy Secretary General Vicky Loizou, Hellenic Association of Professional Congress Organizers (HAPCO) President Irini Toli, Hellenic Chamber of Hotels President Alexandros Vasilikos, Aldemar Resorts CEO Alexandros Angelopoulos and Brindisi Chamber of Commerce Tourism Advisor Giancarlo Picirillo. The conference will be broadcast through a live streaming link at www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZW8MS62ESs Online registration is still open at https://finalconference.inmedtour.eu. The “Innovative Medical Tourism Strategy” project aims to establish a cluster for networking opportunities and collaborations between organizations active in medical tourism. It has also developed the e-Tour Facilitator, an online platform offering its users information about providers of medical and tourism services in Greece and Italy. Based on AI technology, the platform also provides integrated packages of medical tourism services based on the user’s profile. The project’s partners include the Greek Tourism Ministry, the Patra University and Greece’s National Organization for the Provision of Health Services – EOPPY as well as the Municipality of Santa Cesarea Terme in Italy and the Brindisi Chamber of Commerce.
