Dutch Government Relaxes Travel Restrictions for all of Greece Except for Attica

From Sunday, June 27, people from the Netherlands will be able to travel to Greece with no restrictions when they return, the Greek Tourism Ministry recently announced.

This means that travellers entering the Netherlands from Greece will no longer be required to present a recent negative coronavirus (Covid-19) test or go into quarantine after arrival.

According to the ministry, the Dutch government reduced its travel advice for all of Greece except for the Region of Attica (Athens) where restrictions continue to apply.

“This is an important development that follows the recent visit of Tourism Minister Theoharis to the Netherlands and his contacts with the high-ranking official of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Anita van den Ende,” the ministry said.

Minister Theoharis welcomed the news on his twitter account and tweeted: “The opening of the market for Dutch tourists is a very important development to stimulate tourist demand to our country. This is a result of the effort we have made in the past at all levels: health, technical and political.”

It is reminded that Germany also recently took Greece off its Covid-19 travel risk list, as a result of falling coronavirus numbers across the country.

The UK, however, has kept Greece on its ‘amber’ list, meaning that quarantine restrictions apply to people returning to the UK after visiting the country. According to reports, the UK may put Greece on its ‘green’ list of quarantine-free destinations after July 19.
