The reinstated daily service was last operated in 2011. The airline is also operating a second daily service to Athens from its New York-JFK hub, offering US travelers a choice of three daily flights. “We’re pleased to respond to demand for increased travel to Greece from America, adding this new daily nonstop service from Atlanta to Athens alongside increased service from New York-JFK and helping to boost recovery for the country’s tourism industry,” said Amy Martin, Managing Director – International Network Planning. Delta restarted services between New York-JFK and Athens in May, when it became one of the first European nations to open its borders to vaccinated Americans. The airline has scheduled Airbus A330-300 aircraft on all its Athens routes. “Greece is a favorite destination for US travelers and as they look to spread their wings, customers can expect a memorable vacation, whether they wish to explore the local history, island or relax on unspoiled beaches,” Martin added. Customers can conveniently connect from 150 U.S. cities onto Athens services via Delta’s Atlanta and JFK hubs. All services between the U.S. and Greece are operated in conjunction with partners Air France, KLM and Virgin Atlantic. Customers traveling to Greece from the US are not subject to quarantine requirements if they hold a vaccination certificate or negative PCR test issued up to 72 hours before arrival. Before returning home to the U.S., they still require a negative Covid-19 test. Greek citizens remain subject to U.S. entry requirements and are advised to check these prior to travel.
