Event News Ministry Promotes Greek Wine Tourism Sector at Santorini Event by GTP editing team 5 July 2021 written by GTP editing team 5 July 2021 0 comments Share 0FacebookTwitterLinkedinWhatsappEmail 16 The Tourism Ministry is organizing a two-day event on the island of Santorini with the aim to promote Greece’s wine tourism sector. Taking place during July 5-6, the event includes a conference titled “Greek Wine Tourism: Strategy and perspectives in the post-Covid era”. It is held in collaboration with the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO), the Thira Municipality, the South Aegean Region and the support of Greek carrier AEGEAN. On Monday, Deputy Tourism Minister responsible for alternative forms of tourism Sofia Zacharaki will present the Ministry’s plans and initiatives for the development of wine tourism. Furthermore, during the conference, Secretary General for Tourism Policy and Development Vicky Loizou will announce the Ministry’s plans for the development of alternative tourism forms with support from the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF). Among the conference’s speakers are GNTO Alternate Secretary General Konstantinos Zikos, South Aegean Governor George Hatzimarkos, Thira Mayor Antonis Sigalas and Global Wine Tourism Organization President José Antonio Vidal. During the two-day event, participants will also have the opportunity to tour Santorini’s vineyards and attend wine tasting events in wineries certified with the Ministry’s special label for wineries open to the public. The conference will be attended by Greek and foreign journalists and wine specialists as well as Ambassadors of foreign countries, Greek producers and experts. Imerovigli, Santorini. Through activities and initiatives, to take place in areas with strong presence in vinification, the Ministry will highlight the dynamic perspective of alternative forms of travel – such as wine tourism – that can support Greek tourism and contribute to its multi-sided development.
