According to a government decision, workers of tourism enterprises and F&B establishments will have to take two coronavirus tests a week – the first being a self-test and the second a rapid antigen test. Self-test kits will be provided free of charge to workers (through local pharmacies) and must be taken at the beginning of each week on Mondays. Workers must take rapid antigen tests (at their own expense) by Thursdays at the latest. All workers must show their employer the test results and register them on the Ergani (national employment monitoring system) online platform that can be accessed through the www.gov.gr website by using their AMKA (social security) number. Fully vaccinated workers are exempt from weekly Covid-19 testing. The specific measure was originally announced only for six areas in the country. According to reports, the government’s decision is considered a lever of pressure for unvaccinated workers to get vaccinated against Covid-19.
