According to an announcement by the Culture Ministry, admission to some 52 events including concerts, theater and dance performances, poetry readings, documentary screenings, art exhibitions, stargazing events and guided tours will be free of charge. Moreover, a total of 120 archaeological sites, monuments and museums will remain open until late at night on August 22. All events will be carried out in accordance with the health and safety protocols set by Greek authorities for the operation of archaeological sites and museums to prevent the spread of Covid-19. The August full moon is celebrated annually with a number of events across Greece. For 2021 – 200 years after the launch of the 1821 Greek Revolution – Greece’s poster depicts the fortification complex of Troupakis – Mourtzinos in Kardamili in the Peloponnese, where Greek general Theodoros Kolokotronis spent a few days preparing for the revolution.
