ANEK Lines Holds 17th Blood Donation Drive

ANEK Lines CEO Giorgos Archontakis, Chania Voluntary Blood Donor Association President Despina Rodousaki and Tzina Bouzala from the Blood Donation Department of the Chania General Hospital with blood donors.

Greek passenger shipping company ANEK Lines recently held its 17th blood donation drive at its headquarters in Chania on the island of Crete.

Organized in collaboration with the Chania Voluntary Blood Donor Association “Agios Ioannis” and the General Hospital of Chania, the initiative involved citizens and members of the company’s management and staff.

ANEK Lines offered a total of 33 units of blood to the Chania General Hospital to cover the needs of road accident victims, patients suffering from blood disorders and others.

Participants also had the opportunity to donate bone marrow to help people in need.

“Αt ANEK Lines, we have always believed in voluntary blood donation. Our daily goal is to actively contribute to the efforts for the relief of our fellow citizens who need blood as well as cover the increasing needs of hospitals especially during the summer. We are proud that we’ve managed to contribute [to this cause] through our voluntary blood donation drive,” the company’s President Giorgos Katsanevakis said.

During the blood donation drive, the company maintained all the health and safety protocols set by Greek authorities to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

In addition, ANEK, for the first time collaborated with the Art n’ Beauty Hair Salons providing young volunteers with the chance to donate their hair for the creation of wigs for cancer patients – members of the “Alma Zois” and “Ef Zo” Associations.
