According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) for infectious diseases, Crete and the Aegean islands will be classified as “areas with a high risk of infection due to particularly high incidences for the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus”. Travelers entering Germany from high-risk areas must go into quarantine for 10 days unless they have been fully vaccinated or recovered from Covid-19. Self-isolation can be ended after five days at the earliest with a negative test result, which must be submitted via the entry portal of the Federal Republic of Germany at https://www.einreiseanmeldung.de. Since Sunday, August 22, Germany has also included Kosovo, North Macedonia, and parts of Ireland on its high-risk list. On the other hand, Andorra, some regions of Spain (Asturias, Castile-La Mancha, Catalonia and Valencia) and the Canary Islands are no longer considered high risk areas. Germany’s travel rules can be found here.
