The magazine’s editors have chosen the Benaki Museum in the Greek capital as the venue to hold the sixth edition of the “Quality of Life” and are inviting everyone to join the conference and learn “how to reshape and restart their lives, companies and hometowns, as well as explore a city on the rise”. Supported by the Athens Development and Destination Management Agency (EATA), the conference will host over 25 prominent speakers, as well as 130 delegates from the international business community, and from the fields of culture, architecture, science and journalism. According to an announcement by Athens Municipality, the magazine chose Athens as the host city of its sixth conference based on the fact that the city’s new businesses are flourishing and its art scene is thriving. “These factors are compelling a generation of diaspora talent to return home, as well as luring ambitious global entrepreneurs… These creative players are investing in hospitality, design, technology and manufacturing as the city seals its position as the most open, thriving outpost in the eastern Mediterranean,” the Monocle said. In addition, the city’s entrepreneurs will have the chance to meet and network with colleagues from all over the world. “Creating the conditions for better quality of life has become even more important amid the [coronavirus] pandemic. Our strategy is focusing on improving the daily lives of citizens through interventions in all neighborhoods, ensuring sustainability and tourism promotion as well as attracting investment and talent in the Greek capital,” Athens Mayor Kostas Bakoyannis said. Founded in 2007 Canadian entrepreneur Tyler Brûlé, Monocle covers global affairs, economy, culture, architecture and lifestyle trough an international network of correspondents. Lisbon, Vienna, Berlin, Zurich and Madrid are among the European cities that have hosted the “Quality of Life” conference in the past.
