Scheduled to speak at this year’s TIF on Saturday, September 11, the Greek PM will present the government’s new economic policy for the next two years, make an assessment of what has been done so far in Greece, and inform on the priorities of the government for the next period and until the end of the government term in 2023. According to reports, the Greek PM will announce a set of measures aimed to shield vulnerable households against price increases in energy (electricity, fuel and gas) due to international price increases for raw materials. Mitsotakis is also expected to announce the extension into 2022 of the suspension of the special solidarity tax payment for the employees of the private sector and the self-employed, the reduction of social insurance contributions by three percentage points and the cut of the tax rate for profits of businesses from 24 percent to 22 percent. The total budget cost of the three aforementioned relief measures is estimated to exceed 1.5 billion euros. Moreover, the PM’s package of measures is said to include the reduction of the unified property tax (ENFIA) for specific categories of citizens who meet certain criteria, such as the victims of the wildfires. The 85th TIF will take place between September 11-19 at the Thessaloniki International Exhibition Center.
