Greece has been voted as “Best Luxury Destination of the Year” during the “Inspire me Award” event that was recently held by German online magazine “LuxusInsider”. Organized for the first time, award winners were decided based on the votes of the magazine’s readers, who come from Germany’s tourism market and specialize in luxury tourism (sales executives, travel agents, hoteliers, airline representatives etc.). Shortlisted candidates were then evaluated by a judging committee of experts from various sectors of the tourism industry. Greece’s award for “Best Luxury Destination of the Year” was received by the head of the Greek National Tourism Organization service in Germany Nikoleta Lekanidi at a ceremony held earlier in September at the Business Club (Villa im Heine-Park) in Hamburg. During the event, GNTO’s executives had the opportunity to meet and discuss with representatives of the German tourism market and FVW Medien, a leading tourism media group in Germany. The organizers of the “Inspire me Award” aim to turn the awards into an annual event that will honor destinations, companies and personalities of the luxury tourism sector.
