The German agents visited Rethymno on Crete.

Twelve German travel agents toured Crete earlier this month and departed with the “best of impressions”, the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) said on Monday.

The travel agents participated in a week-long familiarization (fam) trip organized by the GNTO’s office in Germany and had the chance to experience the tourism offerings of the popular Greek island.

During their stay, the German travel agents attended a special workshop and received significant information on Crete’s tourism products, direct flights, accommodation packages and authentic experiences.

They also had the opportunity to visit Chania, the ancient city of Aptera, Rethymno, the Psiloritis Geopark, Heraklion, the Knossos Palace, Agios Nikolaos and the island of Spinalonga.

Furthermore, they experienced the renowned Cretan gastronomy and sampled fresh local products and authentic flavors.

“Crete remains a popular tourism destination for German travelers with high booking rates despite the coronavirus pandemic,” the GNTO said.

According to the organization, the travel agents departed on September 18 having “the best impressions of the island and the hospitality of locals”.

The fam trip was organized in collaboration with the Region of Crete, AEGEAN and RTK, one of Europe’s leading travel groups with a wide network of partners including Touristik, TUI, TRAVELStar, RTK meinreisespecialist, FTI, DER Touristik, Alltours and Attika Reisen.
