Greek Tourism Minister Vasilis Kikilias pledged to support the country’s hoteliers in their efforts to recover once the Covid-19 pandemic subsides and to work together on a sustainable future. “Two years after the pandemic, the image of Greece abroad has changed. When this public health crisis is over, the country will do better than it did when it embarked on this venture,” said Kikilias after a meeting on Thursday with Hellenic Chamber of Hotels (HCH) President Alexandros Vassilikos. Kikilias and Vassilikos discussed issues affecting the hotel industry as well as short and long term challenges. “Greek hotels contributed significantly to the achievement of two very important national goals: opening safely and achieving a much better season than last year,” said Vassilikos. “However, this double success given the global conditions does not mean that all problems facing hoteliers have been solved. Supportive solutions are needed on many levels,” he said. Vassilikos briefed the newly appointed minister on a series of HCH actions and initiatives and invited him to the chamber’s next board meeting.
