The Thessaloniki Tourism Organization (TTO) celebrated World Tourism Day (WTD) 2021 by honoring its “next door heroes” – the people striving to ensure that Thessaloniki remains a hospitable and safe tourism destination.

Under the theme “Tourism for Inclusive Growth”, this year’s World Tourism Day aimed to look beyond tourism statistics and acknowledge that, behind every number, there is a person.

On the occasion of WTD 2021, the TTO released a short video focusing on the people of Thessaloniki who work every day to ensure that travelers enjoy the unique experiences the city has to offer.

“People are the treasure of this city – our next door heroes who struggle every day. Those who work quietly behind the scenes, so that travelers can enjoy unique experiences,” the organization’s president, Voula Patoulidou, said in an announcement.

The National Theater of Northern Greece and volunteers were involved in the video’s production.
